Ndumiso Ngcobo wants a BEE deal. No, he’s not a tenderpreuneur and has no struggle credentials but, reckons he’s deserving all the same. Here’s why:

Very few things rile me up more than the fact that I don’t have even one government tender or BEE deal. I have a recurring nightmare where one of my sons accosts me about our fickle financial status and demands to know where I’d been when the only qualification required to win a contract manufacturing Navy warships was an “E” in standard grade Biblical Studies.

The embarrassing truth is that I didn’t join in when the Sasco comrades were rendering my campus ungovernable. My short political activist career came to an abrupt end when a cruel SAP constable kicked the bejesus out of my ribs on the foyer of the EG Malherbe Library at Howard College back in 1990.
