Ndumiso Ngcobo Gives Up the Sweet Nectar of the Gods

His latest column in the Sunday Times:
Of the e-mails, 99% fall into three categories: readers who think Pope Benedict should break with church tradition and canonise me while I walk the earth; readers who merely want to politely agree/disagree with me; and readers who ignore 799 words I’ve written, hone in on one word and send me 2000-word angry missives wishing upon me untold miseries in Lucifer’s eternal bonfire.
Needless to say, I’m most in awe of the last group. What fascinates me is that what riles them the most is when I demurely state what I assume to be blindingly obvious observations. Just last week I wound up one reader into a frothing-at-the-mouth rage for suggesting that our parents may have fibbed a little in the “truths” they taught us. This week’s column is designed specifically to annoy by casually throwing around my opinions as if they were fact.
