Ndumiso Ngcobo Ignores the Law of Escalation and Pays the Price

His latest column in the Sunday Times:
In my weekly musing I often refer to the odd assortment of philistines I loosely call my friends as “the riffraff I consort with” to the amusement of many readers.
How do the philistines feel about it, you ask? The truth is I’ve never asked. I have neither the inclination nor the patience to find out. That’s because this horde of infidels deserves to be called riffraff, truth be told. You don’t believe me?
Take my friend Maswazi, a 100kg slab of pitch-black manhood from the deepest recesses of Zululand. The Dark Lord, Lucifer and, simply, The Darkness, are some of his monikers. This force of nature is notorious for his mean-spiritedness. His life creed centres around the elimination of clutter or complication. A few years ago he unwittingly coined what has become the famous Law of Escalation: “I like to nip potential problems in the bud before they escalate into an unwieldy mess.”
